SPD, CDU, and CSU agreed on „Asylpaket II“

German politics: Yesterday, heads of SPD, CDU, and CSU agreed upon „Asylpaket II“. Next week, the „Bundeskabinett“ will decide about it, then Bundestag and Bundesrat have to accept it.

– More home countries considered as „safe“ countries: Tunesia, Algeria, Morocco will be added to the list.

– People who get only „subsidiären Schutz“ will not be able to bring their family members to Germany (big headlines todays). However, the video explains also that most refugees from Syria will not be affected by this and they will still be able to bring their families to Germany.

– Refugees will have to attend integration courses and they will have to contribute 10 EUR each month (remark: I guess this is also a symbolic decision to make sure that people also show up for the courses, „free“ often means that people do not come. The 10 EUR should not be a problem, refugees get pocket money each month)

– Refugees can start an „Ausbildung“ (apprenticeship) until the age of 25 years and after the apprenticeship they can stay 2 more years in Germany.
